Favourite Magazine Shoots Of 2011

This is mytop 10 list of magazine shoots of 2011.

10. Elle -Keira Knightley March 2011

I was really captivated by the extreme chop they had done with Keiras hair in the other pictures. Plus what she was wearing showed a brand new unperfect Kiera that all the other magazines seemed to shoot her as.

9. Elle - Cheryl Cole Febuary 2011

Again with Elle but they have a way of photographing people in new ways. They brought out a different side to Cheryl and I feel the shoot was a push away from her normal way of shooting again appealing to another audience!

8. Emma Watson Elle Novenber 2011

Hit the wintery feel perfectly and the clothes along with the amazing photographer Rankin worked perfectly and they produced a brilliant shoot that I wish there was just more of.

7. Vogue - Rihanna November 2011

Vogue took an odd approach to their shoot with Rihanna but again I fell in love with the wig she was wearing and although the images were sparse and not as good in the cover inside. The cover was still worth the buy.

6. Harpers Bazaar - Beyonce September 2011

Beyonce looking stunning on the Sept cover showing a fun side to her shoot in the hotel room which worked perfectly with her. I disliked the cover a bit but only a little bit because you can’t help but love her.

5. Vanity Fair - Emma Stone August 2011

I am a massive fan of Emma Stone and thinks she isn’t given enough recognition for her talent. Thankfully Hollywood have realised her potential and snapped her up for many block buster films and I'm sure she’s going to very far.

4. Interview Magazine - Amanda Seyfried March 2011

 Interview magazine itself does brilliant shoots however this shoot that they did with Amanda was so sinister and creepy and I was just captivated by the whole shoot.

3.Dazed & Confused - Beyonce July 2011

Oh my. I'm not sure what they were thinking when they decided to shoot one of the biggest stars in the world this way but it sure did work. It is one of my favourite shoots for ideas this year and I can’t believe how great she looks and how diverse she can be when comparing it to the other Beyonce cover above.

2. Elle - Rosie Huntington Whiteley July 2011

Just missing out from my top spot is back to Elle with the amazing Rosie on the cover. Rosie is such a beauty and I'm glad people are finally beginning to notice her. This shoot in Elle was absolutely brilliant and they made Rosie look stunning and by keeping her clothes on! I'm sure whatever anyone gives Rose she will look stunning but well done Elle for doing a cracking job!

 AND THE WINNER IS

Marie Claire - Miley Cyrus March 2011

If it wasn’t for this Marie Claire Cover with Miley Cyrus on Elle would have won but they captured Miley in a new light and allowed her more grown up image come through the photographs without them looking awkward like so many other magazines do. Miley looks stunning in each of these and this is why this cover is my favourite.

So that’s my top 10 magazines covers of 2011. There were so many amazing cover stars this year and some brilliant photo shoots from all the magazines.  However overall I think the award goes to Elle for being the best magazine and having consistent brilliant shoots time and time again. Nearly all of their covers were in my top 10 but to mix it up I thought I would add in a few others.

Actors Headshots + News

Hi everyone!

So I hope you have all check out the new website and like it as much as I do. I think it was a much needed step up to showcase my work. Also thank you to all the new followers on facebook and twitter means a lot and as you all know I am always grateful for everyone who follows my work.

So on to what I have been up to. So on the Sunday I went Wallington for Opening Night Drama Workshops and did some basic headshots with the space available. It was hard as the lighting was really awful in there. Also I was dealing with different age grouped actors so I had to work out a way to direct them best. Plus I only had a few minutes with each person because of the time they had the hall for. But I enjoyed the challenge and I think I got some really nice shots. If any of you know anyone who needs any actors who need headshots done let me know (prices shown below).

So the plan for the next few weeks are....

I have been working on some moods boards which I hope to send off to my fashion designer friend and see what she can do for me. Also I need models for this shoot so if any models that live around Hampshire or surrey want to shoot also get in touch and I can see if we can work together.

Also I'm doing some more portrait shots for a family this Thursday which should be fun.  So again thanks for the support.

Take care
Michael

Keeping You Up To Date

Hey everyone!

So the countdown to my new website will be begin very soon so keep your eyes out for that! But onto what I have been up to. I am currently planning lots of shoots and still working on La Dame En Rouge.

But this week so far I have been to Sony’s headquarters where I attended Cher Lloyd album launch party and got to meet her. She was really sweet and her album sounds brilliant so everyone should go and buy it when it comes out on Monday!

Then the day after that it was back up to London to help out on Steph Hargreaves music video called “When Will I” which was filmed by Milletti Films. Below are a few snaps I took on my phone when we were shooting. To also have a cheeky listen to her singing the song acoustically click here.

Then that evening was the local premiere of Trust and that went really well and everyone seemed to enjoy it!

I will keep you updated and watch out for the countdown coming soon!

NEWS!

Hello Everyone!

I would like to reveal two big bits of news today!

FIRSTLY the new story that I have been writing is going to be called “La Dame En Rouge” (Which in English translates to The Lady In Red. Another little insight for you all is that it’s about a young French woman who lives in wartime Paris. The story follows her as a Nazi general falls in love with her. The story is nearly ready for everyone to see but as it’s the biggest story that I have ever written and possibly my best I want it to be really perfect before you all read it.

SECONDLY a bit of big news is that the new website is coming very very soon and it’s under construction. So although there will be a bigger and better website to showcase my work this website will stay and this will be where I can connect to all the fans of Michael Sweeney Photography on a more personal level.

So thank you for all the support again and I can’t wait to see show you all new stuff very soon.

2012 Calendars

Hello everyone!

Here is my new 2012 calendars which you can now purchase. One was taken from my trip to Italy this summer while the other one was taken from my trip to Cornwall last year.

All profit made from the purchases of these calendars will go towards buying new equipment for my photography. I would have ideally wanted to make the calendar cheaper but that's the cheapest I could have made it. The reason for this is because a large percentage goes back to the manafacturer and website supplier.

If you would like to buy the Italy calendar with 25% off (Limited Period Only) please click here

If you would like to buy the Cornwall calendar with 25% off (Limited Period Only) please click here

Daisy

So here as a little treat Im posting the story version on Daisy. Daisy was an original idea and inital script by Sam Milletti and myself. But this is the written story mode version written by myself. When you get to the bottom of this page there is another little treat.

---------------------------------------------------------

Its a hot summers day as a young girl called Daisy is sat under a small tree in the garden playing with her dolls. She holds up the two dolls and faces them to each other and says “Do you want to come round for some tea?” She looks at the other doll “Yes I would love to thank you” She takes them both and starts to mimic a walking motion. She stops and looks around at the empty garden and sighs to herself putting her head in her hands. Daisy stands up and heads across the large garden to the house. Daisy approaches her mother’s bedroom with caution and waits a few seconds before knocking on the door. As she knocks she hears her mother’s voice call.
“Yes, Come in” her voice is cold and stern and Daisy opens the door slowly to her mother’s bedroom where she sits on he
r stool applying make-up. “What do you want?” she snaps as she continues to slap on some red lipstick.
“I'm bored, I want something to do. Will you play with me?” she asks carefully all the time looking at the floor.
“I'm busy, go and play with your dolls”
“I have its not as fun on my own” she wis
hes she hadn’t said anything and begs her mother will not shout at her. Luckily she doesn’t and she turns to her;
“Haven’t you made any friends yet? I know it’s hard when you move to a new place but you’ll have to learn to get to know people”
“The children at this school aren’t as nice as my old friends”
“Be a good girl go outside and play” her mother demands,
“Yes mother” she doesn’t disobey and walks out of the bedroom closing the door quietly and as she closes the door her mother yells out;
“Remember to stay in the garden”.

Daisy is laying in the garden on her back with
her does either side of her when she hears a noise, “Pssssst” She sits up and looks around the garden but can’t see anyone. Then she hears it again “Pssssst” the voice then calls to her “Do you want to come and play?” the sound of the voice is coming from the fence, glancing over to it she sees another young girl with matted hair just about looking over the fence. Her small hands hold on tight to the fence and she lowers every now and then. Daisy doesn’t respond and just stares at her. “I know somewhere much better to play than in this garden” still not responding she pushes “Wanna see? I can show you”.
“I really shouldn’t leave” She finally manages to get out.
“Fine your loss” the other girl says and begins to lower herself down. Daisy jumps up realise she could have someone to play with;
“Where would we go?” Mar pulls herself back up and smirks;
“I know somewhere really cool, But you’ll never know if you're going to act like a chicken” Daisy considers the offer and glances back to the house. The thought of someone to play with is too mu
ch for Daisy to refuse so she says.
“Well... if we are quick”. She looks back at the house before running over to the gate to join mar.

Daisy follows mar down to the local woods and finds the gap in the thickness and picks up a long twig. Swing
ing it back and forth she says to Daisy “You're new around here. I can tell” full of herself.
“How?”
“I know pretty much everyone who lives around these parts. I’m the kind of friend you need to have in a place like this. I know all the best hiding places” She snaps the twig in half and tosses it into the trees. Daisy follows the twig and realises how far they
have come into the forest.
“I'm not sure I want to go any further. Do you know the way back?” Mar realises that she may loose her new friend and quickly replies
“We’re nearly there. Me and my best friends Lila used to come down here all the time. Look...” She shows her a bracelet on her wrist that says Best Friends. “We have one each” The girls reach a wire fence and Mar looks out over the flat grass.
“What's that?” Daisy asks.

“Thats the cool place I was telling you about. Follow me, I know a secret way around” She runs off to the right and Daisy follows closely behind.

They climb through a hole in the fence and after a while they reach a line of hedges where Mar finds another gap and which leads them to an abandoned garden. “Isn’t this cool?” Mar says without t
aking her eyes off the garden, but Daisy doesn’t look too convinced. “Come on there’s a really cool swing over here. She rushes over to an old rusty swing and starts swinging on it. Daisy looks around cautiously before entering. She looks up at the old house and asks;
“Doesn’t someone live here?” Mar grins
“Yeah a witch” Daisy looks petrified and shouts back in panic
“A witch?” Mar starts laughing;
“You're so gullible” Daisy looks down at the ground ashamed of being tricked and then goes back to looking at the flowers. After a while of being in the garden the wind begins to pick up. Mar hears the faint sound of children laughing and stops swinging on the swing and digs her feet into the grass. She hears the sound again and loo
ks around the garden. Daisy holds onto a flower in her hands and snips it. Suddenly mar grabs the back of her and makes Daisy jump.
“You scared me!” Mar begins to pace across the garden pulling Daisy with her;
“We need to go” Daisy sees the panic in her face.
“Why? I thought we were having fun?” Daisy pulls her hand free and stands still and Mar stops and grabs hold of her hand
again but in the garden the swing begins to swing and the noise begins to pick up. The wind chimes in the garden get louder as does the noise of children’s laughter and the girls look at each other and begin to run. The girls begin to head back the way they came with Mar leading the way but as they go to escape through the hedge Daisy trips and falls down. Mar glances back at Daisy but turns and keeps on running. Daisy raises her head to see a young girl who isn’t Mar stood infront of her.
“Are you okay?” the strange girl asks “Are you lost?” Daisy nods and the strange girl smiles “here take my hand and I’
ll show you the way home” The girl stretches out her hand towards Daisy and she notices on her wrist is the same bracelet Mar had and reads Best Friend.

Mar rushes through the woods and slides under a log. She takes a few moments to rest as she feels her heart beating quickly.Then after a few more moments she peers up over the log, petrified. Her eyes scan the trees yet there is no sign of Daisy. A twig snaps behind Mar and she turns around but nothing is there. Then she hears the sound of the children’s laughter. At the sound of this she stands up and begins to run. She rushes in any direction pushing through the branches trying to escape. But after a while everything seems the same and becomes a blur as she trips over a log landing on her front. As she raises her head she sees a strange girl in front of her who extends her hand and on her wrist holds the bracelet Best Friends. Mar stares at the hand as she says to her “Take my hand and I’ll show you the way home”

THE END

---------------------------------------------------------

So that was Daisy in its story mode however some of you may know or might have already watched Daisy on youtube. Daisy was turned into a film and we couldn't have been prouder of it. The film ended up getting into a total of four film festivals and in one of those managed to win the best film award which means that Daisy is an award winning film. Sam and myself were are so proud of how Daisy turned out and all the effort the cast and crew put into it. If you want to watch the film click the poster that was used to advertise Daisy or click here.
